Basilia Velasco Asuncion, 86, of Hanamaulu passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on April 4, 2019. She was born in Bulag, Bantay, Ilocos Sur, Philippines on November 28, 1932 and retired as a Baker with Kauai Surf Hotel.
Preceded in death by her husband, Irenio B. Asuncion, mother, Juana Velasco; brother Jacinto Velasco; infant daughter Grace.
Basilia is survived by her children, Ayreen (Edgar) Valenzuela, Aida (Glenn) Kawamura, Ryan (Denise) Asuncion, Joven Asuncion, Jason (Rachelle) Asuncion; 7 grandchildren, Josh (Nichole Barnes) Valenzuela, Tasha Nalei (Nathan) Jugas, Lance (Allison Arakaki) Okasaki, Alayna (Christopher) Cate, Nicholas Arestad, Riley Asuncion, Emma Asuncion; 8 great-grandchildren; brother Domi (Carmelita) Velasco; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8:00 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
