Helen S. Koga Oyama, 89, of Lawai passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on October 4, 2018. She was born in Koloa, Kauai on May 23, 1929 and retired as a Secretary with the National Tropical Botanical Gardens.
Preceded in death by her husband, Nobuyoshi Oyama; parents, Komezo and Keyo Koga; brothers, Kazuyoshi Kawahara, Masaru (Mae) Koga and Tatsuo Koga; sisters, Kiyoko Shimokawa and Doris Uyeda.
Helen is survived by two children, Cheryl Oyama and Russell Oyama both of Lawai; 4 grandchildren, Darren (Cherene) Galas, Shaun Galas, Kristie Serizawa, Kodi (Jamie) Oyama; 7 great-grandchildren, Austin, Braden and Nevaeh Galas, Blake Hashimoto, Dylan Galas, Sadie and Sion Serizawa; sister, Yoshiko Okiura; brother, Henry (Ginger) Koga; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
