Mercedes “Mercy” Efhan, 82, of Kapaa passed away peacefully at home on September 6, 2019. She was born on Oahu on January 6, 1937 and was a dedicated homemaker.
Her love for bowling and fishing came second to her love for her Ohana. She was nurturing and caring to everyone that came into her life.
Preceded in death by her husband, Sancho Efhan; granddaughter, Shawnte Keala Efhan Jaquias and great-grandson, Kamahao Henderson; parents, Simeona and Gregorio Datanagan; siblings, Larry Datanagan and Connie Villaro.
Mercy is survived by daughters, Bernie (Harlan) Nakae of Kapaa, Suzie Efhan of Lihue, Sherrie Efhan of Kapaa, Val Yadao of Hanamaulu and Lulu (Wilbert) Cummings of Puhi; sons, Teo Efhan of Anahola and Aaron (Janis) Efhan of Lihue; 23 grandchildren, Kaipo (Tivoli) Jaquias, Jodelle (Lee) Alba, Deslynn Jaquias, Waynette (Jeff) Parraga, Tina (Greg) Parraga-Alejandro, Kai (Kawai) Parraga, Vanessa Parraga, Wesley (Cherisse) Henderson, Dewey (Napua) Henderson, Darius (Sadie) Henderson, Clifford (Jamie) Henderson, Micah (Maiah) Henderson, Liane (Kepa) Henderson, Shannah (Kalei) Parbo, Elisa (Brock) Kawaihalau, Paul Yadao Jr., Aaron (Jamie) Yadao, Kainalu Fernandez, Wai’Ulu Fernandez, Kekoa (Angelia) Cummings, Bryson (Levonn) Cummings, Sunni Efhan, Keliikoa Efhan; 44 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandson; siblings Vic Datanagan of Daly City, California and Lourdes Corpuz of Ewa Beach, Oahu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery Pavilion at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment to follow.
