Miyako “Betty” Yama, 96, of Kapaa passed away at Hale Kapuna Heritage Home on August 30, 2018. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on May 22, 1922 and was a dedicated homemaker.
Preceded in death by her husband, Suyeto Yama; brothers, Shigeru Wakayama, Tadao Wakayama, Ernest Wakayama, Stanley Wakayama.
Betty is survived by four children, Rodney (Patricia) Yama, Dwight (Judy) Yama, Valerie (David) Lee, Winston (Julia) Yama; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren; brother, Jack (Florence) Wakayama of California; sisters, Kate Watase of Oahu, Grace (Kenji) Munechika of Oahu, Irene (Jerry) Matsuda of Washington; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services and inurnment will be held at a later date. Family requests no Koden and flowers.
