Esmenia Balderas, 101, of Waimea, passed away at Kauai Care Center on April 17, 2025.
She was born in Abra, Philippines on January 1,1924, was a baker at Tip Top Bakery in Waimea, and played softball as their star pitcher. She was also gifted with a station wagon from the bakery owners, and drove all of the other workers from Waimea to Lihue every day. She was also very passionate about raising her beautiful Anthuriums.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, Mariano Balderas; parents, Severo Bobiles & Maria Bobiles; sister Leonora Sapinoso, & brothers Constantino Bobiles, Angel Bobiles & Johnny Bobiles.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (Jim) Daligcon & Ernest (Lynette) Balderas; grandchildren, Marisa (Chuck) Gaalema, Sean (Suzannah) Daligcon, Del (Shelly) Balderas; and great grandchildren, Jaden & Alana Gaalema, Kaleb, Caris & Noa Daligcon, and Carter Balderas.
A celebration of life will be held at Holy Cross Church on Saturday May 17th, 2025. Visitation will begin at 8:30 AM with services to follow at 10:00 AM. A reception to follow at the Holy Cross Church Social Hall. Burial will take place at Kauai Memorial Gardens after the reception.
