Jane Nakashima Obituary

Jane Michiko Saiki Nakashima, 102, of Eleele, passed away on June 4, 2026 at KVMH Waimea.

Born on February 25, 1924, in Paia Hospital to Masato and Hatsume Saiki. Jane graduated from Maui High then Galusha School of Business, where she met her future husband, Yoshito Nakashima.

Jane and Yoshito were married on August 14, 1948. They had four children Sybil, Ross, Carol and Jon. Jane worked as the secretary at Eleele School for 30 years before retiring in 1980. Jane had many hobbies including sewing, flower gardening, cooking and baking.

Jane is survived by sister, Doris Shigeta, brother-in-law Mitsugi Nakashima, children Sybil Oishi, Ross Nakashima (Pat Nakashima), Carol Tokuuke (Val Tokuuke) and Jon Nakashima; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Elaine Mimura, Alice Fu, brothers Edward Saiki, Richard Saiki and husband of 64 years, Yoshito Nakashima.

Memorial Service to be held on June 20, 2026 at 11:00am at St. John’s Eleele.
