Jonathan NihiPali Oclit, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend to many, passed away at the age of 56 on April 13, 2023. His journey was as unique as his spirit, and he touched the lives of many with his warm heart and enduring patience.
Jonathan was born on December 10, 1966, in Oahu. At a young age he was adopted by Fendel (Ding) and Kathryn, who adored him from the moment they saw him. Despite their divorce when John was a teenager, they both continued to shower him with love and care. The two homes he grew up in were filled with different expressions of love and care that molded him into the person he became.
When Fendel remarried Eloise, she welcomed John into her life with open arms and loved him as her own. Fendel and Eloise nurtured John’s curiosity and passion for life.
John was known for his integrity and kindness. He was a man who always saw the best in people and situations, and his positive outlook was infectious. He had a knack for finding humor in the simplest of things, and his laughter was a gift he shared freely.
He is survived by his siblings Ginger Kaneakua-Zenger, Donna Hunt, Frankie Oclit, James Yap, Dean Oclit and numerous nieces and nephews. His legacy lives on in them, and his love and wisdom will continue to guide them throughout their lives.
John will be remembered for his gentle spirit, and his unrelenting love for his family. His life, though taken too early, was a testament to the power of love and the strength of the human spirit.
May he rest in peace and continue to guide us with his love and wisdom from above. A celebration of John’s life will be held on Kauai Island. Dates and times to be announced.
