“Nana” Julia Daquigan Tanicala, 84, of Lihue, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family.
Born on August 2, 1941, in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, Julia was a woman of unwavering faith, strength, and grace. She devoted her life to her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, always caring for her children, grandchildren, and all those around her.
She found great joy in gardening, sewing, and spending time with her family. Orchids were her favorite flower, symbolizing love, beauty, and strength. She will forever remain the orchid of our lives.
Julia was preceded in death by her mother, Florentina Dancel; her father, Servando Daquigan; and her daughter, Florence Tanicala.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Vicente Tanicala Sr.; her children, Roland, Juvie, Melania, Vicente Jr., Teodora, Jasmin, and Johnny; sixteen grandchildren; her great-grandchildren; and a community of neighbors and friends who loved her dearly.
Julia’s legacy is one of compassion, unwavering faith, and quiet resilience. She taught us all to face life’s challenges with grace and to love unconditionally. Her kindness, generosity, and steadfast devotion to her family will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Church. Visitation will be from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Garden.
