Kalalau Kaulei Rivera, born August 17, 1978, in Waimea, Kaua’i, went home to his Saviour on September 16, 2021 from his earthly home in Kapahi, Kauai. He was 43. Kalalau grew up in Makaweli, Kawanui Camp 6. He was a Veteran of the Army National Guard, an excellent marksman, an avid fisherman, a jiu jitsu blue belt, and a gifted and much sought after Certified Arborist.
He was preceded in death by his father, Isidro Rivera and his half brothers Swain and Rudy Rivera.
Kalalau is survived by his daughter Kalia Fletcher, son Lakona Rivera, parents Susie and Norman Heitmann, love of his life, Fern Anuenue Holland, and siblings Hanakapi’ai (Nathan) Grosse, Benjamin (Trisha) Rivera, Celeste (Anwar) Ali, and Bonnie (Kenny) Elledge, as well as his half siblings Swanie (Robert) Kepple, Paulette Glover, Joan Rivera-Sims, Joshua (Kawena) Rivera, Naomi Rivera, and Kama’aina (Cara) Rivera, and numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Kalalau was one of a kind and had the ability to bring laughter and joy to just about any situation. His life touched so many other lives in a profound and unforgettable way. He had a smile that lit up a room and the ability to befriend any soul. He never gave a second thought to offering help to others. Kalalau was outgoing, loving, and simply a joy to know.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Kalihiwai Beach at 1:00 pm.
