Leroy Newman Sr. Obituary
Leroy G. Newman Sr., 90, passed away on August 24, 2025 at home in Kapaa. He was born on February 4, 1935 in Las Vegas, New Mexico and served in the Korean War with the US Navy and retired as a Textbook Editor with the Texas State Board of Education.
He was preceded in passing by his parents, Lewis Newman and Frances C’de’Baca; brothers, Arthur Gallegos and Mickey Newman; sisters, Cecilia Gallegos and Anna Newman.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Beatrice Lemke-Newman; sons, Greg (Tiffany) Newman, Garrett P. (Lisa) Newman and Gavin P. (Marina) Newman; daughter, Kristen Pire and 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday September 24, 2025 at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapaa. Visitation will begin at 8:00 AM, with Mass to follow at 10:00 AM. Directly after, an inurnment will be held at Columbarium #5 at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Hanapepe at 1:00 pm.
