Minako Rabasa passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 18, 2023, at the age of 87. Minako was born May 17, 1936, in Japan. She was a retired Army veteran wife having lived in Germany, Africa, Korea, Okinawa, New Jersey, Kansas, Pennsylvania, Texas, Arizona to finally settle to Hawaii.
Preceded in death by her husband, Juan “Johnny” Rabasa, her parents Bunkichi Hattori & Yukio Izumida, and her brothers Takeo Hattori, Shigeo Hattori, and Mitsuo Hattori.
Minako is survived by her daughter Shirley Dennis of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sons John (Anne) Rabasa of Santa Clara, California and Jimmy Rabasa of Lihue; 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, three sisters Ayako, Sumiko, Keiko and 3 brothers Isao, Katsuo, and Sueo, along with many other nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Minako’s life will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023, from 1-4pm at the Kauai Veterans Center in Lihue.
