Orlando Sonny Anaya aka Coach “O”,61, of Kapa’a, Kauai passed away on April 3 2022. He was born on Oahu on January 3, 1961. Orlando was the youngest nationally certified Water Safety Instructor for the American Red Cross in 1976, and also the youngest WSI Trainer for the American Red Cross in 1981.
He was the head coach and founder of Mokihana Aquatics from 1989-2020. Orlando also coached high school and taught countless children how to swim throughout the island. In 2018 Orlando was inducted into the Hawaii Swimming Hall of Fame.
Orlando is survived by his children, Keenan (Sarah) Anaya, Reece Anaya, Kesia Anaya, and Chase Anaya; Sister Anna Vega and brothers Roy Anaya and Danny Garcia.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Kauai Memorial Gardens on Wednesday April 13, 2022. Visitation will begin at 9 AM with an intimate service to follow.
