Additional Write-Up from a friend:
I was one who was blessed to have Peter in my life for 3 years before having to move back to the mainland. I feel people should really know how special Peter Koorenhof was.
He was an incredible cook with vegetables out of his own garden, an outstanding photographer who expressed the real beauty of every aspect of Kauai, and one who knew of special places on Kauai that I never knew existed (and I've lived on Kauai 37 years!).
Peter was a kind, caring, and very giving man who truly was one of the original "Haole Hawaiians". Yes, he was a loner, but he liked life that way, because he loved nature...the land and the ocean. He was one with it.
I will miss Peter. He taught me the beauty of living a simple life. And, he died doing what he loved best - surfing.
With blessings and love to our Peter, Rebecca DeRoos
