Scott Le Roy Young, 68, of Kalaheo passed away at home on July 12, 2020. He was born in California on May 7, 1952 and worked as a Bass Fishing Tour Guide for Kauai ATV.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, Jack and Maxine Young.
Scott is survived by his cousins, Charlotte Gibbs and siblings Richard, Christine, Kenneth Lee, Philip and Robert Marsh, Sheila Hansberger and her children Michelle, Mike, and Jeff. Lifelong friends Keith & Yolanda Cabral, children Courtney, Makana and Hunter and numerous other family members.
Scott was named for both of his grandfathers, Walter Scott Lee and Roy Young. Being an only child, he was very close to his parents.
Scott was an excellent student throughout his school career. At Neff High School in La Mirada, CA, he learned to play the drums and joined the school band. Besides keeping up with the top-notch grades, he spent his spare time honing his talents on the drums and surfing the coastline of Southern California. A high school graduation gift was the dream of a life time…a trip to surf the waves in the Hawaiian Islands.
After three years at USC, the lure of the islands still continued to call him, and he moved permanently to Kauai. His livelihood allowed him to enjoy the activities he loved best: playing drums in local night spots, surfing the Kauai beaches, and leading tours and fishing junkets for visiting tourists.
Scott made several trips to lead fishing tours in the Amazon and learned to love the wild waters. His discovery of Acai herbs led him to begin a new business, and he was in the midst of producing body lotions and specialty teas, using Acai as the main ingredient.
Although he was a friend to many people, he was blessed to meet Keith and Yolanda Cabral, who treated him like a brother, and they became loyal friends for the rest of his life. He will be remembered by the rest of us as someone who sought to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and someone who dearly loved his adopted home on Kauai.
Rest in peace, Scott.
Public services will be announced at a later date.
