Sherilyn Kau’i Kanoho, of Anahola, passed away peacefully at home on November 22, 2025, at the age of 63. She was born on August 28, 1962 in Lihue, Kauai and was a retired social worker. Sherilyn was a talented hula dancer, seamstress, lauhala weaver, feather lei maker, and spoke Hawaiian fluently.
She was preceded in passing by her father Harrison Kau’i Johnson, mother(s) Violet (Rosa) Johnson, and Rona (Garcia) Johnson. Siblings Paul Peralta, Domi Peralta, Lisa John, and Rona “Sug” Rocha, brother-in-law Scott Byers, and in-laws Ezra and Pauline Kanoho.
Sherilyn is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Paul Kekai Kanoho. Children Erin Li’u (Casey Kaohelaulii Jr.) Kanoho, Isaiah Kai (Tayler) Kanoho, and Colbie Kau’i (Michael) Henslee. Mother Emma Peralta, sisters Raenani Byers and Michelle (Melvin) Kakazu, brother Ron “Pep” (Bonnie) Garcia, and brother in-law Ron Rocha, as well as her loving grandchildren, Haweo Kanoho, Makoa Kanoho, Harper Kanoho-Kaohelaulii, Avery Henslee, and numerous family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday January 3, 2026 at the Kauai Veterans Center in Lihue. Visitation at 10:00am, service at 11:00am, with lunch to follow. A private scattering of ashes will be held at a later date.
