Stephen (Steve) Martin Landis

Stephen Martin Landis was born in Glendale, California on August 8, 1948 to Harry E. Landis and Ellen Martin Landis. He moved to Long Beach at 6 years old. He attended Woodrow Wilson High School where he played Varsity football. Later, he earned a Masters Degree in Physical Education and a Life Teaching Credential from California State University Long Beach where he played Varsity Football and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
In 1971 he married Jill Marie (Davis) Landis, his college sweetheart. Steve went on to teach and coach football at Woodrow Wilson High and became the ski club advisor. Steve was also an accomplished surfer, kite surfer, and golfer.
In 1978 the couple bought a home in Hanalei. Steve became an actor and model. He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild. He paddled outrigger canoe competitively for Hanalei Canoe Club and then Namolokama Canoe Club. He also became an accomplished Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar player.
Steve passed at home on October 14, 2022, after a long illness. He’s survived by his wife, Jill, his brother James Landis, nieces and nephew, great nieces and nephews, and cousin, Christopher Martin. Steve was a kind and loving man who will be missed by a huge ohana.. A celebration of Steve’s life will be held in May of 2023.
